I cannot really answer your question, however I did extensive testing to resolve the Windows Search issue we were seeing and found the settings listed in my blog fixed the issue. We dont use Citrix but have exactly the same problem in a 400 user RD environment that we are looking to turn into an RD farm rather than a group of Covered by US Patent. I found fixes for indexing in three of them so I installed the latest one, SP1 Update Rollup 5 at the DR site and moved my mailbox.
