Shouldn't it work with a self-signed cert? We can see it on but when we send internal or external emails with don't received the auto reply message that the person is out of office. I am using a self-issued certificate for the SBS server. I hope this helps everyone else.
You could try to create a new sendconector on the Server, allowing anonymous mails from your Subnet.
