You are probably using an older version of Outlook like 2007 or 2003. I have the same issue with notifications. Are you also running your email account as IMAP? Setting the tray icon via rule would be fine (as it was able in earlier versions...) A mail program which doesn't inform me about new emails is - sorry Microsoft - How is this a performance issue then? Doing a little research in to this, when setting up an IMAP account you have 2x data files. No, create an account now. Very glad someone took the time to share how to customize the mail notifications. You can add additional sound effects to Microsoft Office programs, such as Outlook, for tasks such as sending an email message and zooming in or out of views.

I just did this and it worked. Is Microsoft going to give us a workaround for this? If you're having problems with your computer, post on the forums and we'll help you fix it. I hope that MS have fixed this issue for the final release. I get sound notification if I use LiveMail but not with Outlook 2010. They have all been disabled in my configuration since I am now using a third party Outlook 2010 add-on which I explain in more detail below. New email would not always trigger an Envelope icon in the tray.
